Hello, I'm Jess.
I entered the workplace age 16 on a level 3 apprenticeship programme, following successful GCSES but little to no careers guidance. I didn't understand the purpose of higher education and this made my A Level studies feel pointless.
Working in the recruitment, early careers and the apprenticeship space allowed me to gain an understanding of the routes to employment. That's when it clicked. My thing. My spark. My purpose. Where I wanted to be.
I went on a mission to find a role within a school where I could support young people to explore career options and pathways. I was offered my first careers coordination role at an 11-18 secondary school and, as they say, the rest is history.
I am now a Level 6 Qualified Careers Advisor working with schools across the UK to support young people. My company, "The Careers People", supports over 140 schools to improve their careers programmes and create successful futures for their young people.
As a consultant, I work with education companies and employers to help them reach schools and young people. This helps them to build their talent pipeline, increase diversity in their applications and ensure their products meets the needs of schools.
